There is a common notion that the explosiveness is genetically conditioned and therefore can not be visibly improved. It is said that one can only improve it by 3 – 5% and that you should not waste your time with trying to change it and focus on other things instead. But, is that really the case?

Weightlifting consists of two disciplines - snatch and clean + jerk. We call it the Olympic weightlifting because it is the only kind of weight lifting being performed at the Olympics. Other sports or competitions that include weight lifting are power-lifting, strongman and bodybuilding, but weightlifting is specific and completely different from the other three.

The training process is very complex and sometimes a complicated matter. The moment we begin thinking about improving our skills, be it co-ordination, strength, speed, endurance or jumping ability, we must choose the path that will get us to the target.
